[The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, and the Kurfürstendamm.]

This is an early evening winter rush-hour view of Berlin and the great Kurfürstendamm street, running off towards the top left of the picture, away from the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church – the original Church is just beyond the modern Church and Tower, in the lower right of the image.

It’s a very famous landmark in Berlin.  It’s a good meeting place too.  Berliners call it ‘der Hohle Zahn’, meaning ‘The Hollow Tooth’.

Kurfurstendamm - KWMC - Night 1

[Already quiet by 10pm.]

However by 10pm, the Kurfürstendamm is much quieter.  Already, the cars are fewer in number, the pedestrians have largely disappeared and the light is less dazzling.

And by 2am the original Church building – what remains of it – is left eerily quiet.

A perfect place for a meeting between old friends.

A perfect place to pass on some information.

And the perfect place for a murder.

Which is the subject matter of Chapter 1 of Spider 2-3.
